With Grafton being 19 months old, full of energy and curiosity, and into everything these days, we have had to implement a "time out" strategy in our household. HOWEVER, Grafton loves time out!!! When she does something bad (throws refrigerator magnets on the ground, hits her daddy, etc.) we tell her to get in the corner for time out. She gets a big smile on her face and prances right on over to the kitchen corner and looks at us! We tell her what she did wrong and what she needs to do, then she gives us a kiss and gets out of the corner to pick up her mess, etc.
Last night here is how "Time Out" went:
1- She begins to hit Daddy's leg with her maraccas and laughs hysterically over and over again.
2- We say "do you want to go get in the corner?" and she jumps up and runs to the corner smiling.
3- We tell her no hitting, she puckers up for a kiss, then runs back to the den.
4- She again hits Daddy with her maraccas, immediately jumps up and goes to the corner again (without us telling her to!).
5- We do the same as above, give her a kiss, and she runs back to the den.
6- For a THIRD time she does the same thing!!!! Hits, runs to the corner excited, then immediately puckers up for a kiss!!!!
Time Out is working though because she does listen to us and usually stops her "bad" act, and I guess it is good that she enjoys being in the corner! She is just too sweet and lovable- I sure am thankful that we have such a happy little girl!
